Since 1986, John McDonald, Founder of JWM Ventures, LLC has focused on buying, developing and leasing commercial properties and has been successful in bringing major projects to fruition. JWM Ventures, LLC is a 100% minority owned and operated commercial real estate development company focused on urban mixed-use redevelopment projects. Committed to the development of projects within disadvantaged urban core communities in California and across the nation, their goal is to provide these urban communities with significant economic development that will help transform the inner core of the urban environment into a vibrant culturally-rich community. Creating prevailing wage jobs, and/or union jobs that will provide incentives such as: healthcare insurance and retirement benefits will encourage long-term positive effects for both the community and its residents. JWM Ventures has dedicated itself solely to the urban/inner city redevelopment marketplace and concentrates exclusively within this market. The sites are redeveloped to create family-oriented communities, where residents can take pride in their neighborhood and enjoy the economic opportunities that follow and allow them entrepreneurial opportunity and home ownership.
John strives to ensure that the communities are a priority by making certain that these communities are benefited first and foremost by economic developments. In his work with the City of North Las Vegas, the U.S. Department of Interior and the Bureau of Land Management to facilitate a major land swap between Nevada and California, John was the essential link to garnering the support necessary for the land exchange, resulting in the land being sold to a non-profit organization for $50 million. JWM Ventures continues to forge relationship with urban/inner city communities and their leaders. He is currently orchestrating major projects in California, Louisiana, and Nevada.
Curtis W. Cannon, Esq., CPA CFO
Curtis W. Cannon is the Chief Financial Officer for JWM Ventures, LLC. His responsibilities include; primarily responsible for managing the financial risk of the corporation. This officer is also responsible for financial planning and record-keeping, as well as business infrastructure, human resources, cost management, quality and payroll control including bonus structure. Before joining JWM Ventures,¬ Curtis was with the Law offices of Curtis W. Cannon (currently Cannon & Tannery), Las Vegas, NV. Practice focused on tax, estate planning, corporate and criminal defense law. In addition, Curtis will be responsible to the company’s Board of Directors for all accounting and financial matters. He establishes company-wide objectives, policies, procedures, processes, programs, and practices to assure the company of a continuously sound financial accounting structure.
Before Curtis started his career, he attended Brigham Young University, Provo, UT were he obtained his J.D. and B.S. in Accounting. He has been a member of Texas Bar since 1982, CPA since 1984 and Member of Nevada Bar since 2007.
Terence Capers Development/ Planning/ Design
Mr. Capers brings over 15 years of expertise in planning, development and design to JWM Ventures, LLC. His experience includes being a project leader for the design construction of several major hotel & casinos, commercial, residential, and mixed-use developments. He has exceptional leadership, and communication skills which have been successful in his involvement with projects for the hospitality, commercial, government and educational markets. He also has additional skills in the developing, reviewing and analysis of design specification, bidding and contract documents.
He received his Bachelors of Science in Architecture / Urban Planning & Land Development from The University of Nevada Las Vegas in 1995.
Miguel Romero Development/ Planning/ Design
Miguel is a graduate from California State University of Dominguez Hills. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration: Management and Human Resources concentration. As a full time student, Miguel participated in various school organizations such as a Peer Mentoring program in Santa Monica College which helped college freshmen make the transition into College easier. Miguel was also a member of the Latino Business Student Association at California State University of Dominguez Hills.
Miguel brings his management skills and eye for media creativity to JWM. He has helped manage several of JWM’s media’s accounts as well hardcopy content.
Ralph Colosimo Senior Financial Analyst
Mr. Colosimo is a dynamic entrepreneurial strategist, with a track record of consistently meeting and exceeding established goals and objectives related to management, sales, and financial analysis. With several years of experience at Argus Software, Mr. Colosimo has taught many of today’s financial analysts how to model their commercial real estate projects using cutting-edge tools such as Argus Valuation DCF and Argus Developer. He comes to JWM Ventures with superior skills and talent in the analysis of Distressed Assets, Subdivisions, Mixed Use Developments, and Complex Financials. Mr. Colosimo also carries a strong background in mathematical analytics from his undergraduate degree in Mathematical Economics from Colgate University. Aside from his vast knowledge of financial modeling, Mr. Colosimo’s experience includes many years of entrepreneurship, and investor and executive sales and presentations.
